Electrolyte Testing

You don’t have to be a superhero to carry an electric charge in your body. We all have electrolytes circulating beneath our skin helping us feel normal, healthy and strong.

An electrolyte is technically a mineral. We get most of our electrolytes through digestion. As our body breaks down food and drink, it absorbs the minerals within it. The U.S. National Library of Medicine lists the most common electrolytes as:

  • Calcium
  • Chloride
  • Magnesium
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium
  • Sodium

Electrolytes are critical to our bodies. They help us retain water, a healthy pH balance, strong muscles and more. They can affect how clearly we’re thinking, the hydration of our skin and our energy levels.

The organs and systems in our bodies all work in sync, and if the electrolyte balance is off, it’s likely we too will feel “off.”

At Test Smartly Labs, we can do a blood draw and send your sample on for testing. We can test for the level of one electrolyte, or a panel of them. Once your results are in-hand, we encourage you to review them with a medical doctor, especially if the report says you’re low.

Note:  Electrolyte tests may also be part of the Basic Metabolic Panel or Comprehensive Metabolic Panel.
